BlackJack Collison Cemetery

Note from David: Here are just a couple of pics of this cemetery. It is located on TWP Rd 509 just off SR 664. As you pull off SR 664 there will be a log home on your right, just as you pass this home the cemetery will be on the immediate hill on your right. If you reach the KOA camp you have gone to far. Parking is non existent, you can pull off the road a bit but be very careful doing this. There is NO entrance to this cemetery so you must climb the steep embankment to it. I had tried to locate this cemetery once before in the summer and now know why I could not. Our current visit was Nov 13.2004 with all the growth and trees minus their leaves and greenery. The cemetery , or what is left of it, would not be visible from road level. The state of the cemetery is appalling, nearly all the stones are on the ground, the forest has literally taken over the place. I will pass along a transcription of those stones I as able to photograph in the next email. But from these photographs you will easily see what I mean, Blackjack-Collison will not be in existence much longer.

This is stone is badly covered with moss & lichens but is otherwise intact and still standing in it’s original mount, amazing given the state of this cemetery. The name & words are well etched, if given a good cleaning it would be good as new.
