I am searching for anyone who is a descendant of John Jacob Bachus originally of W.Va. who settled in Logan, Ohio. He was employed as a coal miner, and wed Viola May Smith when he was 20 and she was 13. Viola's father was said to originally have been a "Shmidt" or some derivitave of. They had an undisclosed number of children and I only know a few of their names. Albert (deceased) Beulah (living in Hocking County) Jerry Gilbert (my father) Aunt Beulah pretty much raised my father, as she is 16 or so years older than he. Anyone to whom this sounds familiar, or who wants to compare notes can contact Trica Bachus at surfkat69@megsInet.net

Submitter: Paul Rabe (rabe.paul@blind.state.ia.us)
Date: 09 Dec 1998

In 1958 Ruth Shull Brown, wife of David Brown and resident of Logan, wrote an exhaustive genealogy on the Shull Family in Ohio. A few years later a distant cousin of mine received a copy of this book; last month I received a copy from him. This book absolutely belongs in any libary concerned with genealogy in central Ohio. Indeed, I am interested in updating and revising her work. However, my cousin has absolutely no idea if Ruth Brown is even alive, let alone who her heirs may be. To even photocopy this book without permission of the owners of its copyright would undeniably be illegal, so I'm looking for those owners. A search in Surname Searcher gave no record of anything for the Shulls in Hocking County. An Internet search found 44 Browns just in the city of Logan, and I'd rather not write to all of them Does anyone have an idea on who the heirs to Ruth Shull Brown would be?
